Public Enemey T-shirt

Public Enemy

Covid-19 lasted a long time. I was gainfully employed in Calgary on contract. So no live music, but I did support the local record store(s). I also continued to buy music online both on iTunes, Bandcamp, and other websites. I'm still a Facebook fan of some bands including Public Enemy. So I tried to pre-order their latest album but could not because I was Canadian. So I just got this t-shirt.

I saw Public Enemy years ago. Chuck reached out in the crowd to shake my hand because in his words I was "the only person digging on PE since 1987". How I proved this in a dark club in Victoria BC, was by knowing all the words to "Rebel without a pause" which I think I first heard on a compilation "Def Jam Classics Volume One". It also appears on "It takes a nation of millions to hold use back." I was buying music on cassette back then, but I got the CD version of the album eventually and it is probably the single album I've listened to the most in my life. I used to have multiple Public Enemy posters on my bedroom walls.
