Like everything, there is a story behind this. Besides being easy to play, when I was teaching myself to play the guitar again, I was heavily into Neil Young and subscribed to the Rust mailing list. One of the people on it at the time posted or had a .sig file which said "When in doubt Em." This was an exposed philosophy when trying to figure out Neil Young songs.
Now a days I don't play that much Em. I tend to play the following two chord progressions the most of late (2006) E, Am, C, G and F, Am, C, G. The major chord I'm least likely to play is B because I learned it last perhaps. I sometimes incorporate a G to B or a B to C chord change or even Am to B. I've been really into Am of late, I almost never play the regular A major. I even use some Asus4 or something sometimes.

Top, course I
don't own one but Neil Young and the Supersuckers
both play them, coincidence?
I think not.
In truth, I've always lusted after a big Gretsch, Neil plays them, I once saw the Squirrel Nut Zippers and they used a pile of hollow bodies or semi-hollow bodies. I like big guitars. I also have recently schemed of pairing it with an Orange amp, possibly an AD30 Twin Channel Combo. I think I'm developing an orange fetish.
I think the Purple Hot Rod is sweet looking and there is always the White Falcon. Chet Atkins is even back in the Gretsch Fold posthumously. Gretsches are sweet looking but possibly overpriced guitars. They are making a blue 6120 in 2007, the G6120BS with a "Blue Burst" finish. Townes Van Zandt wrote a song about wishing for a blue guitar:
I wish I had a blue guitar,
