My A#1 Ramen Shop

This shop was just around the corner from where I worked, this is why I ate there the most. Alas, when I visited Toyohashi in 2026 this shop was gone but not all my favourite ramen shops in town are no more. This was more of a restaurant that also served ramen. It was open late and for lunch so I ate there a lot. In addition to ramen I also ate a lot of Yakiniku Teishoku@ĂH. My advice, which I passed on to Charles in 2026, especially at lunch, is to always order the Teishoku or set meal. If there is a picture menu you'll see exactly what you should get, but it does vary sometimes. Regardless it usually is good value and you can just eat the dishes you like. I never eat the pickles and rarely eat the tofu.

It appears three of the ramen shops I documented back in 2003 and 2004 might still be open: Momoyama, Jandara, and Kuroma-ya which is the one I may have the fondes memories of and now regret not trying to find it again in 2026.

I actually ate a lot of Ramen in China, first in Beijing when I was a student there and later in Shanghai where I again taught English.
